Collective Worship in School

Our focus in collective worship this term is linked to our value of 'Respect' this will be alongside 'Be the Change' resources - see below.

On a Monday, collective worship is led by Mr Brown using the 'Be the Change' resources

On a Tuesday, collective worship is led by Mrs Farmer (our specialist music teacher) and we learn to sing together and use music to develop our sense of spirituality.

On a Wednesday, collective worship is held in our church, St Columba's and is led by Mrs Plows and children linked to our value of of the term.

On a Thursday, collective worship is led by Mr Murray and children linked to our value of the term.

On a Friday, collective worship is led by Mrs Witheyman and focusses on a celebration of our learning and achievements from our community.

Be the Change - Spring Term 2023

Someone once said (attributed to Mahatma Gandhi…), ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’. As we begin a new term and a new year, we take the opportunity to do this: to bless and commission our school community for the year ahead and commit to the chance to be a blessing to others in return. Through events in the life of Jesus, we will be reflecting on the impact Jesus had on the ordinary people he met (including children!), helping children to fill in the gaps between Christmas and Easter in the narrative of Jesus’ life, making better sense of the timescale. But we will also be using these stories to help children to think about the impact that they, in turn, can have on their world, by issuing ‘Be the change…!’ challenges to do ‘small things with great love’, as Jesus did.

We include prayers and reflection as part of our collective worship which are always invitational.  Please also see our collective worship policy for further details.
