Pupil Premium Reports

At Collingtree CEVA Primary School we are committed to promoting the progress and attainment of all children, whatever their backgrounds.

What is Pupil Premium funding?

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most (Taken from the DFE website)

How much money have we been allocated for 2015/16 for Pupil Premium?

£19,800

How have we allocated this money?

  • We have used our pupil premium funding to employ a learning mentor to support disadvantaged pupils in partnership with the class teacher, SENCo.

  • We have purchased a three year subscription for the 'Accelerated Reader' programme and an annual subscription for 'Espresso' programmes.  Resources for each of these are purchased to ensure they have maximum impact on attainment and progress.

  • All classes in our school have additional adult support for teaching and learning on a daily basis (approximately 15 hours per week). This ensures that the individual needs of all children are met.  The early identification of areas for development enables specific support to be provided to raise attainment and accelerate progress

  • We have a dedicated team of support staff who work across the school to ensure access to the curriculum by the provision of interventions in reading, writing and mathematics for children who are not working at national age related expectations or not making expected progress

  • We have an online tracking system which enables us to track the progress and attainment of all children in reading, writing and mathematics on a termly basis.  This is analysed to ensure that all children, whatever their backgrounds are able to access the curriculum and are making at least good progress in their learning.  It also enables us to identify vulnerable children at the earliest opportunity. This is supplemented by class ‘Assessment and Progression’ files where evidence of current attainment and ‘next steps’ can be found

  • Staff meet with the headteacher on a termly basis to agree class plans and discuss pupil progress. 

  • To provide specific CPD opportunities for staff to enable them to provide a high level of support for children.  In 2015/16 we have commissioned support from Fair Fields Teaching Alliance,  Jonathan Hughes (an independent maths consultant) to continue to support our developments with the mathematics curriculum and Jogo Behaviour support to provide us with bespoke programmes to facilitate 'Kind hands, Kind feet and Kind words' with Early Years and KS1 and to develop nurture groups to support the work of our learning mentor.

  • We provide parents with written information in relation to how they can support their children at home and hold regular information meetings relating to specific aspects of the curriculum, e.g. phonics, reading, maths, e-safety

  • We purchase high quality resources for learning and teaching to support our learning challenge curriculum

  • We provide after school clubs, trips and visitors to enrich our learning challenge curriculum and make sure that all children are able to access additional learning experiences beyond the school day

 

In 2014/15 we were awarded £19,800 for Pupil Premium which was allocated in a variety of ways:

Impact of Pupil Premium Funding 2014 -15

  • KS1 - There were no pupil premium students in this years cohort.

  • KS2 - The APS for core subjects amongst Pupil Premium students is 4.4 points less than the non-Pupil Premium students average, and 1.3 points less than the national Pupil Premium students average. The school gap has widened by 1.3 points from 2 years ago. The APS for core subjects amongst FSM students is 2.3 points less than the non-FSM students average, but 0.1 points greater than the national FSM students average. The school gap has closed by 0.8 points from 2 years ago.

We track the progress of all of our pupils in school on a termly basis and we compare children according to different characteristics, including Free School Meals (FSM). 

The DFE also publish our results in a report called RAISEonline which analyses our school data.

In 2013-14 we were awarded £15,248 which was allocated in a variety of ways:

  • A budget to support pupils and their families (whom have been awarded pupil premium) with contributions to educational activities ie school trips 1:1 tuition for pupils highlighted (using the census information highlighting children awarded pupil premium)
  • Teaching Assistant (TA) support on a regular basis for each class including full morning support in Key stage 1 and full time support in Foundation therefore pupils being provided with extra support at the initial stages of their education.
  • Purchasing software that is able to be accessed at home by pupils to enhance their learning e.g. mathletics and purple mash.
  • The Life education bus which provides specific age appropriate teaching on how to be healthy.

Impact of Pupil Premium Funding 2013 -14

  • KS1 - The APS for core subjects amongst Pupil Premium students is 1.2 points less than the non-Pupil Premium student’s average, but 2.8 points greater than the National PP average. The school gap has improved by 0.8 APS.

  • KS2 - The APS for core subjects amongst Pupil Premium students is 1.4 points greater than the non-Pupil Premium student’s average, and 4.5 points greater than the National PP average. The school gap has improved by 0.8 points from 2 years ago. Rates of progress were broadly inline with non-PPG learners, helping to narrow the gap in their achievement.
